A Little About Me

I'm William Howard, a Central Florida native who has called South Florida home for many years.

Much of my professional life has been spent in wealth management, a career that has introduced me to interesting people, lasting friendships, and meaningful experiences. But I've always believed there's more to life than what we do for a living. Family, friends, travel, and the experiences we share are equally important.

This website is a place to share a little about my background, interests, and life beyond the office.

My Journey

I grew up in Central Florida and earned my Finance degree from the University of Florida.

My career began at SunTrust Banks in Orlando, where I became one of its first Private Wealth Client Advisors. I later served as Senior Vice President in SunTrust's Private Wealth Group in Windermere.

I earned my CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification in 2002. My career eventually brought me to Fort Lauderdale, where I led SunTrust's largest Private Wealth team in South Florida.

In 2009, I became Director of Wealth Management for a community bank, serving on its executive leadership team and overseeing trust and brokerage services.

After many years with larger financial institutions, I established my own independent advisory practice in 2015. Looking back, I'm most grateful for the relationships I've developed and the people I've met along the way.

A Passion for Travel

Travel is one of the great pleasures of my life. I enjoy discovering new destinations, exploring historic cities, experiencing different cultures, and appreciating the architecture and landscapes that make each place unique.

According to my TripIt history, I've taken 53 trips, visited 22 countries and regions and 126 cities, traveled 172,955 miles, and spent 317 days away from home.

Whether I'm exploring a European city, enjoying a Mediterranean coastline, or discovering somewhere unfamiliar, it's the experiences and memories that matter most—not simply the number of places I've visited.

Photography is a natural companion to travel. I enjoy capturing landscapes, architecture, and small moments that remind me of places I've been and people I've met. And despite all the places I've been fortunate to visit, my list of destinations to explore keeps growing.

Beyond Travel

I've also enjoyed being involved in the South Florida community. Over the years, I've served as Treasurer of Greater Fort Lauderdale Sister Cities, on the Board of Governors at the Tower Club of Fort Lauderdale, and as an Ambassador for The Financial Awareness Foundation.

These experiences have brought opportunities to connect with people and contribute to the community I've called home for many years.

What I Do Today

Today, I'm the founder of William Arthur Wealth, an independent wealth management practice in Fort Lauderdale. My work focuses primarily on retirement planning, and I continue to enjoy the relationships that develop over years of working with individuals and families.
